Our Story

Hi Y’all!

I’m Olivia, but most people call me Liv, and I am the heart behind Via Tinto. Oh! And that big guy? That’s Benson, but most people call him Benny and he’s my trusty sidekick.

As a Native Oregon, long-time resident of Troutdale, and Mt. Hood Community College alum, I’m thrilled to bring my love of good old-fashioned hospitality, community, events & festivities to Historic Downtown Troutdale.

So, what does Via Tinto even mean anyway?

"Via" is a nickname for Olivia, but it also means "the way" or "the path" in Latin and several Romance languages. "Tinto" is Spanish for "dyed" or "tinted" and is commonly used to describe red wine—vino tinto. Traditionally, you'd say vino tinto for red wine, but in this case, "Via Tinto" can be interpreted as "The Way of Red Wine."

The Festivities

At Via Tinto, there’s always something to celebrate. Whether you’re here to sip, mingle, make something beautiful, our gatherings are all about connection. The kind that fills your glass and your heart. Imagine intentionally curated bespoke gatherings such as Corks & Clay to Pumpkins & Prosecco, intimate tasting dinners, local musician nights, and seasonal soirées, each event is crafted with intention, creativity, and a touch of charm.

If you are a local musician, artist or looking to host a festivity at Via Tinto, don’t be shy!

The Journey

Via Tinto has been a long-time dream and divine timing is everything! With over a decade in corporate event planning, plus earlier years spent working all areas of the restaurant industry and managing a brewery, hospitality has always been in my blood. I studied Hospitality & Tourism at MHCC and even studied abroad in Mexico, where my love of travel and the Spanish language grew.

I always knew I wanted to open my own little spot right here in our slice of paradise we’re lucky to call home: Troutdale, Oregon. While I’m not a sommelier, I proudly represent the wine enthusiasts. After years of living here, and eating and drinking my way through Troutdale and the world, I knew Troutdale needed a space just like Via Tinto.

So here we are, raising a glass to community, connection, and creating a place where everyone feels welcome.
